The Taming of the Shrew may not have been the best choice for this week. In the past, I've been able to enjoy the more shocking bits and pretend the play encouraged kindness and understanding between marriage partners. Now, I'm thinking about the dangers of misogyny.
Still love this book, its actually on my yearly reading list (certain books just need to be read once a year instead of once in a while! lol)
ReplyDeleteSo true, Mary-Anne! Jane Eyre is usually a yearly read for me. Adam Bede and Ethan Frome are also favs that are due for rereading.
