Dental Surgery Or A Rest with Puffy Cheeks

Yesterday morning, Jared drove me across town to the dental clinic.  I had an appointment to have my wisdom teeth removed.  The dentist explained the procedure and asked whether I had any questions.  As it happened, I did have a few questions, "Am I going to hear a wrenching crunch that will haunt my dreams for years to come," "Will I say anything terribly embarrassing when I wake up," and "For how many days will I be in unbearable pain?"  But I stuck with, "What are my aftercare instructions?"

I needn't have worried.  About an hour later, I woke up with numb lips and four fewer teeth.  Jared took me to the grocery store for drugs and pudding, and then home to bed.  I didn't hear or say anything unusual, and the pain has been entirely manageable with Tylenol 3, frozen peas, and ice cream.  It's been quite lovely, actually.  I've lain around alternately resting and reading, while my husband takes care of the children, brings me juice and cheesy mashed potatoes, and plants gentle kisses on my forehead.  I would do this again next week.

  1. Too bad you had all four done at once. If you'd known, you could have spaced it out a bit. Glad it is bearable for you.
